  • To strengthen participants' connection to Israel whilst reflecting the reality and diversity of issues and people in Israel

  • To show chanichim that issues relating to Arab citizens of Israel are being addressed

  • To show chanichim that this topic is a norm as a conversation on Tour, and how to have this conversation

  • To consider progressive measures to improve the status of Israel’s Arab citizens
  • To encourage madrichim to think about how to translate this information into practical educational activities on camp

Trigger

This is where you should introduce the idea of the peula with an engaging activity that supplies some initial key facts. Examples include:

  • A quick pop quiz
  • A roleplay
  • An activity with movement that has relevance to the themes and ends with people in groups


Main

This is where the aims of your peula should be achieved. For each activity, think about whether it is addressing at least one of your aims. Based on these aims, ideas for activities can include:

  • "Play your cards right" method for teaching key facts and figures
  • Declaration of Independence activity to show how Israel proclaimed a duty to equality for all of its citizens
  • Zionist thinkers activity to analyse the different Zionist opinions about Arab citizens of Israel
  • Mixed cities activity to display a case study of the challenges apparent in achieving equality
  • Electorate activity to try and understand the political motivations of Arab citizens of Israel
  • Political parties activity to look at the Joint Arab List and what it might achieve
  • Jewish sources to look at what Judaism says about the "other"
  • Role play of e-resource case studies with discussion questions
  • Innovative case study presentation


Sikkum

This is where you should summarise what has been delivered in the peula, with a checking mechanism to ensure all aims and educational objectives have been met. Examples include:

  • Human body feelings and progress sheet
