UK foundations and philanthropists support many projects that advance equality and promote positive relations between Jews and Arabs in Israel. The UK Government, through its Embassy in Tel Aviv, has also made funds available for such programmes.
The UK Task Force facilitates dialogue and coordination between funders and helps identify possible areas of synergy and potential for partnerships to help make effective use of scarce resources. We also offer consultancy to trusts interested in supporting relevant ventures.
In 2011, the UK Task Force led a successful co-funding bid, which saw four Task Force members come together to partner with the British Embassy in Tel Aviv, delivering £340,000 to four civil society projects in Israel.
In May 2013, the UK Task Force facilitated a match funding opportunity between the Pears Foundation and the Israeli government. Pears are the first organisation to partner with the Israeli governemnet on the scheme which provides scholarships for first degree Arab students. The Council of Higher Education’s Planning and Budgeting Committee and other governmental bodies on the one hand match the contributions of foundations and philanthropists on the other. The Pears Foundation pledged $100,000 over three years.
